For Sale

I moved into a new pad and I don't have room for this thing any more.

10'6" x 23.25" x 3.25" (I think) Eric Christenson Pelican (Quad)

Triple stringer, Royal Blue/Navy tint, gloss/polish, glass in fins, deck/tail patch. In super good condition (minor pressure dings and 1 encounter with the rocks at San-O).

Asking $600, paid damn near $1000 for it new, Come with a day bag.

Paddles well and is super fun for small, lined up, peelers. I had one day at micro Cardiff that was particularly memorable.

It is currently at Katin Surf Shop if you want to take a look.

Fonzer

With all this swell I have been riding the 6'6" EC Fonzer a shitload. I seriously can't say enough good things about this sled.

Found this floating on the interweb today.

I got in, then she shut me down, just like Prom 2003.

Winter

I just stopped by EC's and ordered something like this.

6"6", 3/8" tapered stringer, schoolbus yellow tint, gloss/polish, leash loop...now I just need a haole hand print for the whole trip.

Now, do I bonzer-ize it or run it single?

EC in Nalu

I found this on Yo's blog.

Q1:NALU
どのようなデザインのロングが今年の定番になりうるとお考えですか?(100W以内)
In your opinion, What type of longboard design could be trend in 2009?
1)i think 1/8-3/16" thinner boards will prevail.
narrow noses will continue to be popular, also. if they're done
right they noseride really well.
i think the modern longboarder wants to carry his/her
style on heavy classic boards
to a little lighter application so that he/she can increase
sensitivity, maneuverbility and be able to manipulate
situations on a wave more quickly and easily. classic
outlines and flatter entry rockers will still be chosen but w/ more
versatility in mind. nothing extreme but 6oz glass will be chosen
over volan for '09, i think.
Q2:NALU
シェイプの際に心がけていること、座右の銘などがあれば教えてください。(100W以内)
What is most important point of shaping for you, or what is your Motto of shaping?
2) the most important thing for me is too accomplish what the
customer was seeking. blending style and functionality is
extremely important for me, also. i make each board as if it was
my personal or for tom curren (my favorite surfer). with that being said i never take shortcuts or put a time limit on a surfboard. i want thecustomer and myself included to be really happy and satisfied about what was ccomplished.
Q3:NALU
初めての一本として勧めるのは、どのような特徴のボードですか?
二本目の購入を考えている中級者には、どのような特徴のものを勧めますか?(100W以内)
What type of longboard do you recommend for begginers?
How about for intermediate longboarders?
3) for beginners i always ask them first what style of surfing is attractive
to them- classic or more high performance. if it's high performance i would suggest my
comp model and if it's classic perhaps a mod sled or pistolero. but i try to make all my longboards
easy to surf with no querks or weird dynamic. with that being said, i think my comp, daddy 0, mod sled and pis tolero
are all good for beginners, intermediate, and advanced surfers. with beginners
i will adjust volume and length to favor stability, though. for intermediate and advanced surfers width and thickness are very
important so that they can reach they're full potential. this is done through experience shared, wave type, body type, and
personal style.

EC

He's the one in the green Chucks.

I picked up my new 9'3" Pistolero diamondtail from Eric this weekend. I ordered it sand finish (clear), single fin box, no leash plug, no deck or tail patch. Bare bones. It is light and slashy. I rode it Sunday with Douche and Eagles. It was bitchin'. Uncrowded, waist to chest high, slight texture, mushy...perfect test run. I should have photos of it soon.

While I was at EC's I met his buddy Randy Noborikawa. I had seen Randy's work before on some EC art sleds and his interview in Blisss. Way rad dude. Douche and I are going to a Laker game with EC and Randy in March. Should be rad. EC loves the Lakers. Not as much as bikes though. Him and Randy were talking about changing out some bolts on Randy's bike to shave off a few grams. Mental.

Randy drew up some new logos and stuff, the details of which I will not divulge...shirts are in the works.

Anyways, EC has a fresh batch on their way to Japan, I asked him to send me over some shots so I can share 'em.

9'8" Super Sled squaretail

9'4" Pistolero diamond tail

9'3" Mod Sled

Chick Sleds 2 9'1"s and a 9'3"

Here is the description EC gave me of the boards via email. Man of few words:

"the sizes? i've got no clue- 9'1" to 9'8"
that requires memory. let's see...
the blk/wht supersled is 9'8" 22 3/4" 3"
polka boards were chick boards 9'1"s 22 1/4 x 2 3/4 i think the white one was a 9'3"22 1/4x2 3/4
bow ties were 9'3" and 9'4" both 22 3/4" x 2 7/8
rockers are identical pretty much to the mod as well as
bottom contours. tried and true modest blended entry concave to flat roll
just behind it to a rolled vee on out the back. mostly just a variance in outline. the pistolero's
got a 1" wider tail and more of a speed shape nose. so ride quality will
mostly differ to how the board pivots in the water."

That's it for now, I just cracked a 22oz. bomber of bottle refermented Russian River Damnation Golden Ale...

EC

I was takin' a gander at Yo's blog, OC and I came across some new stuff from EC.

It looks like he has taken his bat-tail Frodo template, a personal favorite of my brother and I, and put a new tail on it. A sort of bat-tail diamond tail blend.

Last time a saw EC I was asking him about a diamond tail on this board, I guess this is his response...

Gnardiff

Camped at Gnardiff this weekend with a few friends. Drank all night, surfed and drank all day.

Brought my 10'6" and slid a shit load of peelers. I couldn't have brought a better board. Glassy, small, peeling...

Sunset.

Hide you beers and daughters, Douche is in town.

Yami

I left a new board at my friend Makoto's house for a week and asked him to sketch something fucked on the bottom whenever he got a chance.

Very Stoked. Thanks MAK-10!

Very rad painting he gave to Dude_Economy.

Show me the way to the next whiskey bar

I'm certain that on any given Tuesday night I'm sipping a beer with someone cooler than you. Case and point -

In other news, E to the C, Eric Christhenson has some sicky sleds down at Katin Surf Shop...Have a gander

5'7 phantom of the agua!

7' something Freeride single fin - These boards work really well at any length - 5'5 to 8'0, single fin or fonzer!

6'6 freeride fonzer!
So the story goes like this - Some whiny, bonzer snob, assclown cried to the cambell bro's that ec was making bonzers. Eric got a phone call shortly after from a surly malcolm campbell telling him that he wasn't allowed to call his five finners "bonzers". Never mind that the entire surf world refers to any 5 fin as a "bonzer", but EC is a nice dude and thus the FONZER was born.
